## README.md

# TinyQuest ✦

A small offline-first command line tool that serves up kind, practical coding prompts. Handy when you have fifteen spare minutes and no idea what to tinker with. Python 3.10+; standard library only.

## Try it

```sh
python3 tinyquest.py              # one delightfully random quest
python3 tinyquest.py --daily      # stable pick for today
python3 tinyquest.py --daily --date 2025-02-03
python3 tinyquest.py --category test --seed rainy-day
python3 tinyquest.py --daily --json
python3 tinyquest.py --list
python3 -m unittest -v
```

`--seed` makes a random pick repeatable; `--daily` uses a stable SHA-256 date selection. The bundled `prompts.json` is editable plain data. No network, account, install, or telemetry required.

Categories: `build`, `care`, `explore`, `test`. Unknown categories and malformed prompt data produce a concise error instead of a traceback. Quest prompts aim for small, reversible experiments, with an emphasis on safety and useful tests.

## Design notes

- Keep the first run instant: no packaging ceremony or third-party modules.
- Daily choice should be portable and reproducible across Python processes.
- Keep prompt content separate from selection logic so folks can remix it.
